This Guide does present the most artistic monasteries and convents in Lithuania.

The Introduction is dedicated to the the history of the monastic movement and of religious congregations and to its impact on culture and art. Book does describe the development of contemplative, military, mendicant and apostolic religious movements as well as architectural and artistic forms, developed inside of these movements. The singular monuments are presented in their historical development with particular attention to the artistic values of objects.
